Send your best work. For submission of novels or collections: In a cover letter, provide brief biographical information and describe the manuscript you wish to submit, including word count or page count (in a standard font). Previous publications are not required, but feel free to mention them or any relevant expertise. Send a short synopsis, no longer than two pages, and the first 30 pages of the work. For submission of short pieces for a specific project: Include a short cover letter with relevant information, identify the call-for-manuscripts to which you are responding, and send along the entire work. In all cases: If you wish your manuscript(s) returned, include an envelope and postage adequate for the return. If you wish only notification, include a stamped, self-addressed standard envelope. Response time is usually one month but may take up to three months. (Sweetgum Notes, our online magazine, is on hiatus.)
