Sweetgum Press promotes emerging writers or those who have found mainstream markets elusive. We read year round and encourage submissions of shorter novels and collections. In addition to this ongoing call for book length works, we currently seek short non-fiction for an anthology. Please see a fuller description under Call for Manuscripts.

Sweetgum is not a vanity or subsidized press--writers do not contribute financially. The press payment is modest. Writers are offered a standard contract, with royalties from 7-15 percent. Currently, distribution is primarily regional.
